Dentist Near Upper East Side

Convenient Access from the Upper East Side

Only Central Park separates the East Side from our office, and the crossing is shorter than many people expect. Columbus Park Dental sits on West 72nd Street in Manhattan, just west of the park, and a drive from the Metropolitan Museum of Art takes about 5 minutes when the transverse is clear. For patients who want a dentist near the Upper East Side without a long commute, the M72 crosstown bus also runs along East 72nd Street and stops about a block from our door.

From the Met at 1000 Fifth Avenue, head a short way south on Fifth Avenue, turn west into the 79th Street Transverse and cross Central Park. On the far side, go south on Central Park West and turn west onto West 72nd Street. The trip covers roughly 1.3 miles, and the transverse can back up badly at rush hour. Our address is 40 W 72nd St Ste B, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.

Upper East Side bus riders have two options. The M72 picks up along East 72nd Street at York, First, Second, Third, Lexington and Madison Avenues, and westbound trips also stop on Fifth Avenue, before dropping off at West 72nd Street by Columbus Avenue or Central Park West. Farther north, the M79-SBS crosses on 79th Street and stops at West 81st Street by Central Park West or at Columbus Avenue and West 80th Street, roughly half a mile from us. Check the pin on Google Maps, and see our pages for Yorkville and Carnegie Hill if you live in those parts of the East Side.

The East Side, From Fifth Avenue to the River

The Upper East Side stretches roughly from 59th Street to 96th Street, between Fifth Avenue and the East River. It takes in several smaller neighborhoods, including Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill and Yorkville, and together they form Community District 8 in Manhattan (New York County). The local Manhattan Community Board 8 covers the whole stretch. East Harlem begins north of 96th Street, and Midtown East lies below 59th.

Along the park, Fifth Avenue is anchored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, founded in 1870 and the largest art museum in the Americas by floor area. Its main building, owned by New York City, is the start of the driving route above. Just south of it, Conservatory Water draws families to sail model boats beside the Alice in Wonderland and Hans Christian Andersen sculptures. The Central Park Conservancy plans to close the pond for repairs in 2027.

Further east, the Second Avenue Subway added Q stations at 72nd, 86th and 96th Streets when its first phase opened on January 1, 2017. Those stations serve the north-south commute well, but no subway line links the East Side directly to the 72 St stations near our office. For a trip across the park, the crosstown buses or a short drive are the practical choices.

The neighborhood's character is protected in several places. The Metropolitan Museum Historic District and the Park Avenue Historic District are among the designated districts that preserve much of the older architecture across the Upper East Side. That kind of continuity is worth having in dental care too: one team you can return to year after year.

Complex Care and Comfort for Upper East Side Patients

Some Upper East Side patients need treatment that goes beyond a routine cleaning. Some have avoided the dentist for years because of anxiety. Others are dealing with several worn crowns, a failing bridge or missing teeth and want a single team to plan the whole repair. Our team handles that kind of case in-house.

The biggest difference is anesthesia. Our in-office anesthesia suite offers nitrous oxide, IV sedation and general anesthesia, provided by a dentist anesthesiologist, so patients do not need a hospital visit for sedated treatment. New patients can book a Free Sedation Consultation to discuss which level of sedation fits their care and their health history.

For patients missing many teeth, our team plans full-mouth reconstruction with All-On-X, which uses implants to support a full arch of teeth. Dr. Jason Cho, our board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, handles implants and bone grafting in the same office. That keeps the surgical and restorative steps under one roof instead of spread across several practices on both sides of the park.

Early starts help Upper East Side professionals fit this care around work. Tuesdays and Fridays open at 8:00 AM, and Mondays stay open until 6:00 PM. Longer sedated visits are easier to plan when they can begin first thing in the morning.

What Sets This Dentist Near the Upper East Side Apart

  • Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide, IV sedation and general anesthesia in our own suite, delivered by a dentist anesthesiologist. Anxious Upper East Side patients can finish needed work without a hospital stay.

  • Full-Mouth Rehabilitation

When many teeth need attention at once, a full-mouth plan coordinates crowns, implants and other repairs. The goal is a bite that works as a whole.

  • Restorative Dentistry

Fillings, crowns and bridges rebuild teeth damaged by decay or wear. An exam shows which older restorations are due for replacement.

  • Veneers & Crowns

Crowns strengthen cracked or heavily filled teeth, and veneers refine the look of front teeth. Our dentists explain which one a tooth needs.

  • Cleanings & Exams

Regular checkups protect the work you have already invested in. An 8:00 AM visit lets patients from across the park be done before the workday.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Columbus Park Dental from the Upper East Side, and how do I get there?

It is about 1.3 miles from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, roughly a 5-minute drive when the park is clear. The route crosses Central Park on the 79th Street Transverse, then follows Central Park West to West 72nd Street. For a dentist near the Upper East Side without driving, the M72 runs from East 72nd Street to a stop about a block away.

Can you replace my old crowns or bridge?

Yes. Replacing worn crowns, bridges and fillings is a core part of our restorative care. An exam and x-rays show which restorations are failing and which still have life left, and our dentists explain the options before anything is scheduled. When many teeth need work at once, a full-mouth rehabilitation plan can coordinate the replacements.

What is All-On-X, and who is it for?

All-On-X is a full-mouth reconstruction in which dental implants support a complete arch of replacement teeth. It is meant for patients who are missing most of their teeth or whose remaining teeth are failing. Dr. Jason Cho places the implants and handles any bone grafting, and sedation is available. A planning visit comes first to confirm the approach fits.

Is there a bus from the Upper East Side that stops near your office?

Yes, the M72. It runs along East 72nd Street, crosses Central Park and stops on West 72nd Street at Columbus Avenue and at Central Park West, both about a block from us. The M79-SBS is another option, stopping at West 81st Street by Central Park West, roughly half a mile from the office.

Do you accept my PPO plan?

We accept all major PPOs. Our insurance team processes the claims for you and provides a cost breakdown before treatment starts, so you know your share in advance. Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. Patients without coverage can join the CPD Dental Plan or use Sunbit financing for larger treatment.
